The Uni-Story
-
Unitex Industries began at Chicago's Merchandise Mart in October of 1971. In May of 1976, we opened our manufacturing plant in River Falls, Wisconsin. Throughout the 1970s, our two main customers were Sears Roebuck (as one of four mandatory sources for Sears Contract Sales) and the Federal Government (as one of the original G.S.A. contractors). During the 1980s, we established our nationwide dealer network, branched out into the health care and hospitality markets, and moved our sales offices to Oak Park. In the 90s, we developed our specialty department and began our foray into highly decorative top treatments. We entered the new millenium determined to maintain the high standards of quality in product and service that have sustained us for more than three decades. (October of 2006 marked our thirty-five year anniversary!) Today our draperies can be found in environments as diverse as the Harvard Business School in Cambridge,MA, The Hyatt Minneapolis, the Pensacola Naval Air Station, the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, the Allstate Insurance Company Headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois, Keene State College in New Hampshire, the VA Medical Center in Guam, the Grand Victoria Riverboat and Casino in Elgin, Illinois, the University of Chicago,The Woodbridge Retirement Center in Tampa, Florida, Eglin Air Force Base, and the U.S. District Court, St. Joseph's Hospital, and U.S. Post Office Main Branch in Chicago.
